Accepting these terms
By downloading or using Gister you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the app. They're between you and PLAYRIOT LLC; Apple is not a party to them, though Apple may enforce them as a third-party beneficiary.
What Gister is
Gister is a daily word game. Each day there is one secret word, the same for everyone. The app tells you where your letters belong and how close your guess is in meaning. Word meanings are scored by a language model built into the app; it is a game mechanic, not a dictionary, and it can be surprising. That is part of the fun and not something we promise to be "correct".
Free and Plus
- Free forever: today's word, one Unlimited game a day, the last seven days of the archive, and one hint per game.
- Gister Plus is a single one-time purchase of $4.99 (US dollars; may vary by region). It unlocks endless Unlimited games, every past word since launch, three hints a game, and the deeper word list. There is no subscription, no trial and no renewal. Once bought, it's yours on any iPhone signed into the same Apple account — tap Restore purchases in Settings.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. All billing is handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your data
Your games, streak and stats live on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them. We hold no copy to restore from. See the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
Don't reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app or its word list; don't automate play; don't resell or redistribute the app or its content; and don't use Gister to build a competing service.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Gister, including features and the price of Plus, at any time. A price change never applies to a purchase you've already made.
Disclaimer of warranties
Gister is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any meaning score is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PLAYRIOT LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of Gister. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Termination
You may stop using Gister and delete it at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are broken. Disclaimers and the limitation of liability survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where local consumer law grants you rights that cannot be waived, those rights still apply.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version appears here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Gister after that date means you accept the change.
