The short version: Gister runs on your phone. There is no account, the word engine is built into the app, and your games never leave your device. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you across other apps.
What Gister stores
- On your device only: your games (the words you guessed and when), your streak, your stats, your settings, and whether you bought Gister Plus. We have no account system and no copy of this data.
- On our servers: nothing about your play. Guessing a word, scoring its meaning, the hints, the gist — all of it happens on the phone with a word list shipped inside the app. Gister makes no network request to play.
Reminders
If you turn on the daily nudge, Gister schedules a local notification on your phone. It is created and delivered by iOS on the device. Nothing is sent to us. You can turn it off in Settings inside the app or in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Gister Plus is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app that the purchase happened; that flag is stored on your device and restored through your Apple account on a new phone.
Feedback (optional)
If you write to us, we receive what you send: your message and, if you include it, your email address, app version and device. This is used only to read, reply to, and act on your feedback.
Sharing
When you tap Share, the app hands your result (a picture and a short text) to the iOS share sheet. What you do with it from there — Messages, social media — is between you and that app. Gister does not post anything on its own.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No accounts, no contact lists, no location collection, no analytics identifiers.
Age
Gister is a word game suitable for all ages. We knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, children included.
Your controls
- Deleting the app removes every game, streak and setting, because they live only on the device.
- Notifications can be turned off any time in Settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date.
