The short version: Gister is a word game. A free daily word, one payment for Plus, no subscription, no ads. Play fair, don't break the app, and enjoy it.
Accepting these terms
By downloading or using Gister you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the app. They're between you and PLAYRIOT LLC; Apple and Google are not parties to them, though Apple may enforce them as a third-party beneficiary.
What Gister is
Gister is a daily word game. Each day there is one secret word, the same for everyone. The app tells you where your letters belong and how close your guess is in meaning. Word meanings are scored by a language model built into the app; it is a game mechanic, not a dictionary, and it can be surprising. That is part of the fun and not something we promise to be "correct".
Free and Plus
- Free forever: today's word, three new Range levels a day, one Unlimited game a day, the last seven days of the archive, and one hint per game. The first three days include free Plus access, with no purchase and nothing to cancel.
- Gister Plus is a single one-time purchase of $4.99 (US dollars; may vary by region). It unlocks endless Range and Unlimited play, the full archive, three hints per game, Deep words, six-letter Unlimited games, and sending Dares. There is no subscription, Apple billing trial, or renewal. Once bought, it's yours on any iPhone signed into the same Apple account — tap Restore purchases in Settings.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account (iPhone and iPad) or your Google account (Android) at confirmation of purchase. All billing is handled by Apple or Google Play; we never see your payment details.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. On iPhone and iPad request one at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android see Google Play's refund policy.
Your data
Your games, streak and stats are stored on your device. On iPhone and iPad, when iCloud is enabled, game records also sync through your own iCloud. Deleting the app removes the local copy; an iCloud copy may return when you reinstall. On Android there is no cloud copy. PLAYRIOT has no copy of your games to restore. See the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
Don't reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app or its word list; don't automate play; don't resell or redistribute the app or its content; and don't use Gister to build a competing service.
Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Gister, including features and the price of Plus, at any time. A price change never applies to a purchase you've already made.
Disclaimer of warranties
Gister is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any meaning score is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PLAYRIOT LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of Gister. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Termination
You may stop using Gister and delete it at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are broken. Disclaimers and the limitation of liability survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where local consumer law grants you rights that cannot be waived, those rights still apply.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version appears here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Gister after that date means you accept the change.
